Youth football: Predators’ hopes prove artificial

There’s just one youth football report this week as the weather continues to play havoc with the fixture list. See the end of the article to find out how you can get involved with our coverage.

UNDER-14

Bognor Allstars 5 Predators Youth 2

This was always going to be a hard game for Predators, playing on the all-weather surface for the first time, and they were eventually undone by old boy Brandon Williams, who scored a hat- trick against his former team.

Predators were trying a different formation and were two goals down before they really got going.

However, with Josh Simmonds and Angus Hamilton joining Tommy Sanctuary at the heart of the defence, they started to look more solid at the back, giving the full-backs the confidence to venture forward.

The second half started with Predators under pressure again, but just as they seemed to have weathered the storm they conceded twice more - although there was more than a hint of offside in the build-up to the second.

With Dom Humphries making his presence felt in midfield, Predators came back strongly and deservedly pulled a goal back when Ashley Butler swept home a cross from the right.

This gave Predators confidence and a flowing passing move started in their own area by Alex Burford exchanging passes with Sean Donner ended with Sean Donner firing home.

Predators went forward purposefully but with time running out they were again caught out by a long ball which allowed Williams to complete his hat-trick to make the game safe.

PREDATORS: Fellows, Burford, Butler, Daniels, Donner, Hamilton, Hanslip, Humphries, Sanctuary, Simmonds, Smith, Waldron.

Send your youth football reports and team pictures to sport@chiobserver - if we get them by 5pm Monday we guarantee to publish them the same week.
