Simon Ferry is regarded as a doubt for Rochdale as he struggles to recover from his hamstring problem.

And to deepen Guy Whittingham’s midfield woes, Andy Barcham is troubled by a knee complaint.

Ferry limped off in the 16th minute in the thumping at York, after initially straining his hamstring in the warm-up.

He was replaced by Romain Padovani, although his central-midfield partnership with Johnny Ertl failed to convince as the Blues slumped to a 4-2 defeat.

Saturday’s visit of Rochdale may be too soon for the former Swindon man, although he is responding well to treatment.

Another concern is Barcham, who suffered joint pain in the outside of his knee against the Minstermen.

He was yesterday sent for an MRI scan, with Pompey’s medical team awaiting the results to discover the severity of the problem.

There is at least encouraging news on Joe Devera, who returned to training yesterday following his hamstring injury.

The defender has missed the Blues’ past two matches after being forced off against Burton, with Bondz N’Gala deputising in the meantime.

However, N’Gala has impressed during that period and Whittingham will be left with an interesting decision over who to partner Sonny Bradley in the heart of the defence.

Shaun Cooper could also be back in contention as he reaches the end of his rehabilitation from a groin problem.

It was decided York would be too soon and instead he is pencilled in for a training return tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Yassin Moutaouakil is still banned.
