Blues fans are still fearful for their club’s future.
The spectre of liquidation hangs over Fratton Park, with administrator Trevor Birch battling to keep the club alive.
But fans’ favourite Joel Ward remains upbeat that the survival fight will be won.
Pompey Supporters’ Trust are ramping up their effort to generate funds for a fans’ buyout bid.
That is something Ward and his team-mates have been keen to champion, with 11 players from Pompey’s current squad signing up for their community share scheme so far.
Meanwhile, former owner Balram Chainrai remains in the wings, with his return to Fratton a distinct possibility as he looks to recoup part of the £18.6m he has put into the club.
Ward is a player who knows Pompey better than most – with the Emsworth talent having a 14-year association with the club he grew up supporting.
The 22-year-old believes Pompey remains an attractive investment to the right man.
And it is that fact which he feels will allow them to survive.
Ward said: ‘The sooner the club gets taken over the better.
‘It would be such a shame for there not to be a Portsmouth Football Club in the future.
‘I don’t think that will happen because it’s such a fantastic club and people will come and invest here.
‘The fans have been fantastic.
‘They have been unbelievable and their support has been crazy.
‘I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: They are the best fans in the country.
‘They alone are a massive attraction to any buyer.
‘Until everything is sorted and the club is going forward, we are going to wonder what is happening, though.
‘But we’ll look to the future and, hopefully, push on.
‘I think the club is going to move forward and be restructured. I want to see that.
‘It’s a good club and you want to see that happen.’
