Bognor had to settle for a replay as their FA Cup clash with Lewes ended in a stalemate.

The Rocks nearly opened the scoring in the opening minutes when a Ben Johnson cross found James Crane, but his header went inches over the bar.

Jake Thomson tried his luck from 30 yards forcing Rikki Banks to make a finger-tip save.

Jake Dixon went close for the visitors when he drove a low shot from 10 yards but Chris Witterton’s reflex’s diverted the ball away with his right leg.

Dan Thompson – who has returned to Nyewood Lane for his third spell as a Rock – had a late chance to seal a place in the second qualifying round but his header was off target.

Pagham have gone out of the FA Cup – a second-half fightback at Dorking, where they were three down at the break, wasn’t enough and the final score was 4-2.

In the Sussex League division one, Dan Hegarty’s late strike earned Chichester City a point at Lancing but David Correll’s goal couldn’t prevent a 3-1 defeat at home to Shoreham.

In division three, Tom Kelly netted a hat-trick and Joe Jefkins and Barry McCoy also scored in Sidlesham’s 5-0 win over Ferring while Dave Storey’s double earned Bosham their fourth win from four at home to Rottingdean.

Midhurst are out of the Sussex Senior Cup after a 3-0 home defeat to Eastbourne United AFC.
