Dean Platt gets across in against Roffey in SATURDAY'S Dean Platt manages to get a cross over in Sidlesham match Saturday.

The Sids carried on where they left off against Uckfield and put Roffey under pressure straight from the kick-off - ending up 6-1 winners in the Sussex League division-three tussle.

Dean Platt had support up front and immediately caused the Roffey defence problems - and with just six minutes on the clock, following some neat build-up play, he opened the scoring with a fine shot.

Roffey were not causing problems and the Sids were running the game but missed a few chances.

It was not until the 35th minute that they went two up - when a ball was played in from the right and John Phillips beat the offside trap and placed the ball out of the keeper’s reach.

Less than a minute later, Andy Hounsome collected the ball and scored with a fine shot.

The second half began as the first had finished with the Sids looking for more goals - and Phillips duly obliged when he scored his second on 52 minutes.

With the visitors looking ragged it was just a matter of how many goals the Sids were going to score and on 71 minutes following another fine cross, Billy Chatfield scored with a tremendous header.

The Sids brought on Paul Barnes and Dan Bassil before Roffey broke forward and, with their first real attack of the game, they scored on 75 minutes.

The Sids seemed to ease up and it took a fine double save from Lee Arnell to stop them scoring a second, but the Sids made sure

that was Roffey’s last attempt to score.

The Sids were reduced to ten men when Platt went off injured but they continued to attack the Roffey goal, hitting the bar before Paul Barnes scored their sixth goal on 81 minutes.

In the last few minutes the Sids could have added to the total.

March will be a busy month for the Sids with six matches, including the division three cup semi-final against Haywards Heath next Tuesday at Lancing (7.45pm) and matches against the teams currently second, third and fourth in their league. This Saturday, they visit Rottingdean.

SIDS: Arnell, Low, Carrigher, Grantham B Chatfield, Brown, Hounsome, Hartley, Platt, Phillips, Newman, Barnes, Bassil.
