Three members of Chichester Runners & AC travelled to Dorset for some early-season competition at the annual Bournemouth spring open at Kings Park.

Alyssa White, competing outdoors for the first time as an under-15, came a very creditable fourth overall out of a large entry in the 200m. Running in the outside lane, she set a new personal best of 28.4sec. She went on to run 13.9sec in the 100m.

First-year under-17 Sophie-Anne Haigh made a welcome return to competition, having had most of her winter training lost or restricted through injury. She recorded a very respectable 26.9sec for second place in the 200m.

Combined eventer Jessica Breach (under-17) enjoyed a good day, with second place in the shot (10.82m), followed by first in the long jump with a personal-best 5.30m, and a convincing win in the 80m hurdles in 12.2sec – the long jump display being an English schools mark.
