Six members of Chichester Runners & AC represented Sussex in the annual high-quality southern counties under-17 inter-county meeting at a scorching Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth.

Conditions were tough, particularly for the endurance events.

Jessica Breach posted a season’s best 12.5sec for second place in the B 100m and claimed fifth spot in the A string 80m hurdles in 12.0sec.

Being drafted into the long jump at the last minute didn’t faze her as she sailed out to a sparkling new personal best of 5.33m to win comfortably.

Rose Ellis ran 4min 57.3sec to secure a good second place in the B string 1,500m.

In the throws, Alex Jarrold came fifth in the A string shot with a new personal best 9.82m and Chayleigh Jennings finished fourth in the B string hammer with a PB 22.86m.
