Chichester men’s tennis veterans ran out handsome 4-0 winners when they entertained close rivals Angmering in their first match in defence of the Sussex title they won last year.
Mick Bennett and Dave Storey were little troubled by Ian Vaughan and county player Peter Sellar with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win in the first match.
Bob Puncher and Tony Gough started against another county player, Ken Shufflebotham, and Ian Robinson and came through strongly 6-3, 6-4 after a tough match.
Puncher and Gough went on to beat Ian Vaughan and Peter Sellar with something to spare - 6-2, 6-2.
Mick Bennett and Dave Storey cruised through their first set 6-1 against Ken Shufflebotham and Ian Robertson but their smooth progress was interrupted when Bennett had to change his racket, resulting in the second set being lost 6-4.
However the pair dominated the resulting tie-break, which they won 10-4 to seal the 4-0 victory.
