Clarke's the Stableford star at Cowdray

Peter Clarke struck a stunning round in Cowdray Park Golf Club's latest monthly stableford competition.

The 75-year-old amassed 45 points and, though, not enough to record two, he did earn himself a three-shot handicap reduction.

Clarke had the round of a lifetime in near enough all aspects of his game, with his putting a particular high point.

The Cowdray Park member of nine years, topped the Division 2 Stableford standings for February with Wally Mitchell (40) second. Brian Brockhurst finished with a score of 37 to complete the top three.

Relatively new member William Hunter edged out Dave Lucking to take the February title in Division 1.

Hunter picked up 40 points with Lucking trailing just a point behind in the final table.

As well as Lucking, Peter Laws ended with the same points total. Laws had a superb run of six holes on the front nine, recording a birdie and five pars in a row.

Third-place was shared by three players in Division 1. Dave Hirons, Terry Jasper and Robin Phillips could not be separated as they all collected a final Stableford round score of 38.
