Petworth & Bognor Angling Club hosted a sponsored charity event on the River Arun organised by the Barbel Society in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.

The task was for two anglers - Paul Bennet and Gerry Gleeson - to catch double-figure barbel from 14 rivers throughout the country.

So far 15 doubles in total have been caught from nine rivers fished.

Club member Dave Chambers joined them and caught a double, which was most pleasing as the Arun is a challenge unless you know the ropes and can pass on a few tips.

The club’s chairman, Nigel Chapman, was very pleased to pass a cheque for £100 on behalf of the club. Further contributions were added to the cause.
