Tri iT Sports opened its doors to the public with help from a medal-winning GB Paralympic swimmer.

Situated in the Beaver Trade Park, Chichester, it is a dedicated triathlon shop and performance centre.

The directors’ vision was to create a centre to look after triathletes of all abilities.

Stephanie Millward came along to show off the five medals she won at the Paralympics, along with the Olympic torch she carried on the Liverpool leg of the relay.

Crowds queued to have their photo taken and get Stephanie’s autograph.

The opening was well attended by local clubs Chichester Westgate Triathlon Club, South Down Velo and Chichester Runners, with more than 200 people in attendance, greeted with mince pies and mulled wine.

There was much interest in the gait analysis section where the latest Comtemplas software is being used to ensure athletes walk away with the correct trainers.

The endless pool - like a treadmill for swimming where you swim against a current - also grabbed the attention.

It ensures the correct wetsuit is purchased but is also being used for stroke analysis. There is an impressive range of bikes.

There’s a coffee lounge where you can chat to the experts about products or discuss the latest sports science and technology.

The majority of members of staff have represented GB at some level, whether competing or coaching, so their knowledge is hard to surpass.

Director Luke Leleu said: “We are thrilled to have finally opened our doors to the public. Chichester has really needed this type of high-performance retail unit.”

The store is open seven days a week and is now planning a visit from cyclist Chris Boardman.
