Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club hosted a nine-and-under orange matchplay tournament.

This mixed singles competition was held in the club’s dome and was their last junior tennis tournament for the winter season.

The event was organised using a round-robin format of six players, each match consisting of the best of three tie-breaks to seven points.

For the first time this season the event finished up being a tie, with three players recording three wins each.

After calculating the ‘sets won’ percentage, the bronze medal went to Freddie Williams of the Chichester club.

Silver went to William Eales of Portsmouth ITI and gold was won by Aidan Randell, who is also coached by the Chichester Tennis Academy based at the club.

Tournament organiser and referee Peter Cook said: “Once again temperatures were below freezing and so huge credit must go to all the players and also to the parents who gave up time on their precious Sunday to stand in unseasonable conditions and

support the youngsters.”
