Success of tournament puts Bognor in sevens heaven

Almost 30 teams from across the country visited Hampshire Avenue to take part in the tournament – sponsored by Grit Gym – with more than 500 people arriving at BRFC throughout the day to spectate and take part.

The winners of the Sheiks Social Cup were the Wise Monkeys team from Colchester. Hove Ladies picked up the Sargeant Carpets Ladies’ Cup. Winners of the Grit Gym Elite competition were the Voyagers team – a charitable side put together to raise funds for injured amateur sportsmen and sports women.

The event was organised by Bognor first XV player Harry Dyer. Without his meticulous planning and passion for the sport, the tournament would not have taken place.

He said: “I am delighted with how the day has gone. We have seen some great rugby and it is brilliant to see Bognor RFC and rugby bringing so many people together.”

Bognor RFC extended their thanks to all the teams and spectators that made the event such a success. The tournament was supported by many Bognor businesses and plans are already afoot to make this an annual community event.
