You could be forgiven for thinking you had accidentally travelled back in time by 120 years when visiting Chichester railway station at the weekend (August 22).
But after close inspection you would have discovered the train arriving on Saturday was the luxurious, venerable Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
More than 200 lucky passengers dressed in formal attire waited with excitement at the station to be picked up by the British Pullman train.
One woman who was ecstatic to be there was Julie Jordan, who had booked her train journey with a friend a year ago to celebrate their 50th birthday.
"This is an absolute dream of mine. We came over from the Isle of Wight," said Mrs Jordan from the platform before boarding the train.
"It's a marvellous experience, and I am really, really looking forward to it. Everyone has dressed for the occasion. We didn't mind where we were going, but we found out we were heading to Bournemouth. I don't travel that much."
The train arrived at lunchtime and set off on course straight to Bournemouth, before it returned to Chichester for 4pm.
Dave Dawson had travelled from Hayling Island to take a snap of the Orient Express British Pullman.
He said: "Really I'm just a railway nut and I like steam trains. It was nice to see the Orient Express looking so pristine. I have seen one before but some of them are different."
The first Orient Express train hit the rails on June 5, 1883 as the Express d'Orient which left Paris for Vienna.
The route changed slightly in 1885 and the end destination became Istanbul, which remained the furthest travelling point in the east until 1977. The train was officially renamed the Orient Express in 1891.
In the 1930s, three parallel services were running at the same time: the Orient Express, the Simplon-Orient-Express, and also the Arlberg Orient Express, which ran via Zürich and Innsbruck to Budapest, with sleeper cars running onwards from there to Bucharest and Athens.
