TALK: Bognor Regis Recorded Music Club welcomes visiting speaker Julian Dixey on “The Last of England”. Visitors are very welcome. CHICHESTER

AUTHORS: CHINDI, the network of independent authors living in and around Chichester are delighted to be raising money for Dyslexia Action at their ‘Love to Read’ party to be held at the Pallant Suite, South Pallant, Chichester. An event that promises to indulge the senses with a selection of books by local authors, fine wines provided by Hennings and hand crafted chocolates by Noble and Stace. The event will run from 7pm until 10pm with great gifts including signed books by local authors available to buy just in time for Christmas. Entry is £2 which will go to the charity. There will be an exciting raffle to raise further money with books by best-selling authors, holiday vouchers, exquisite perfumes, dinner at local restaurants and delicious chocolates included in the prizes. Dyslexia Specialist, Jaqui Flisher will also attend the event.

COMEDY: Quackers Comedy’s 1st Birthday Party! Come and celebrate the anniversary of the return of regular, live stand-up comedy to Chichester with a chuckle and a boogie! SALE: Table top sale at Aldwick Baptist Church. This starts at 10am. There are a few spaces left for tables (cost £10). All proceeds will go to St. Richard’s Hospital Howard Children’s Ward. FAYRE: Bognor Regis Carnival Association presents their Christmas fayre, 11am - 4pm at the Methodist Church Hall, High Street, Bognor Regis (opposite Iceland). BOSHAM

BAZAAR: Bosham Christmas Bazaar, 11am - 3pm at Bosham Village Hall. Come and get your Christmas shopping started and relax over some warming homemade soup and yummy cakes! We (a group of Bosham Villagers and friends) are holding a wonderful Bazaar to raise money to help St Wilfrid’s Hospice build their new home in Bosham. Grand Draw with amazing prizes including, London theatre tickets and hotel, Christmas hampers, local free-range bronze turkey (voucher!), family days out, meals at top restaurants, theatre tickets, toys, luxury Christmas cake, spa days, wines and many more! Stalls will include crafts, cakes, jams/preserves, toys, games, children’s books, bottle tombola and much more. Parking - to help minimise congestion round the Village Hall, The Bosham Monday Club Bus volunteer drivers are kindly providing a shuttle service between the main Bosham Car Park and the Village Hall (11am - 3pm) so don’t worry about parking or carrying your goodies back to your car!

TALK: “A Tale of Two Abbeys: Construction, Reconstruction and Legacy”. The ruined 13th century English Heritage abbeys at Netley and Titchfield are the subject of Christine Bury’s illustrated talk in the Mountford Rooms, Emsworth Community Centre, North Street, Emsworth PO10 7DD at 7.30pm Both these religious houses were founded by one man, Peter des Roches, Bishop of Winchester. Both suffered similar fates during Henry VIII’s reign when they were converted into palatial secular houses for two of Henry’s courtiers. William Paulet, privy councillor, treasurer of the Royal household and later Marquess of Winchester reconstructed Netley, while Thomas Wriothesley, Lord Chancellor and later Earl of Southampton turned Titchfield into his main home.
