Macmillan Cancer Support is asking people to put on their trainers and get in training for a sponsored Zumba-thon.
The Zumba marathon is due to take place at Midhurst Rother College on Saturday, February 4, in the Jon Barrott sports hall when the most enthusiastic Zumba enthusiasts will be aiming to keep going nonstop for three hours.
The sponsored event for Macmillan is being organised by Maddie Hathaway, who lives in Midhurst and works at the college, and Zumba instructor Judith Marriner.
Maddie said: “We are very lucky in this area to have the overwhelming support from the Midhurst Macmillan Service which looks after people living with cancer in their own homes and I wanted to help fundraise for this amazing local service.
“Cancer is a part of so many people’s lives and we personally know very few people that haven’t been affected by it.”
Maddie is hoping to attract more than 100 people to take part in the event, but she said space was limited so it was important to book early.
In addition to Zumba sessions there will be other fitness activities.
Judith, along with instructors Gaynor Oakes of The Fitness Barn at Liss, Linzi Shipway and Vikki Gamblin, will be leading the Zumbathon while Hush Salon will be on hand for beauty treatments.
High Sports will be offering ‘have a go’ climbing sessions for those taking part and much more. Zannah Charman, who runs pole dancing sessions at The Grange, Midhurst, has donated a lesson for six people for a prize draw on the day.
Registration fee is £5 and the minimum sponsorship is £10.
