PAM TUNBRIDGE has been nominated in the Herald/ Gazette Community Stars awards because of her dedication to volunteer work.
Friend, Peter Berry, met the 85-year-old, from Shoreham, when he was chairman of the West Sussex Association for the Disabled.
He said he nominated Pam because of her good work in the community.
For the past 20 years, Pam has run a club for the Shoreham and Southwick branch of the association.
Every Wednesday, they meet at Southwick Community Centre and Pam takes them on regular excursions.
Busy volunteerPeter, 85, also from Shoreham, said: "She's very busy, but it's not so much that she spends so many days volunteering, it's that she's been in continuous service to the community for at least 20 years."
Pam also volunteers as a receptionist at the Shoreham branch of 4SIGHT, an organisation for blind people, and in the Cancer Research UK shop.
She lost her daughter, Gail, to cancer 20 years ago when she was just 44, and said working for the charity's Shoreham shop has helped her to give something back.
She added: "I'm old, but I consider myself reasonably physically fit and the volunteering helps me to stay that way."
