MUSIC giant HMV has postponed the opening of its new Worthing store.
The shop, in the Montague Centre, was due to be launched on Thursday, August 21, with a special live performance by chart-topping indie band One Night Only.

But a statement put out by HMV this week said that because of leaks in the roof, building work would not be completed in time for the store to open.

It read: "HMV regrets that, due to circumstances totally beyond our control, the official launch of our new store in the Montague Centre, Worthing has been temporarily postponed.

"This delay will only be for a few days, however, and we will announce brand new launch details as soon as we are in a position to do so.

"In the meantime we would like to thank future customers for their patience and to apologise for any disappointment caused."

The company also said because of the date change they are unsure whether One Night Only would be available to perform on the new date.

The store, in the Montague Centre, takes over the unit where shop Music Zone was based before it closed down several months ago.

HMV claims when completed, the shop will be "state-of-the-art" and will feature an "interactive shopping experience".

The new store opening date has yet to be confirmed.
