Battle man denies Herstmonceux murder charge
Gerald Ian ‘Gerry’ Palmer, 50, of Powdermills Lane, appeared at Lewes Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing where he denied the charge.
The charge relates to the murder of 47-year-old Carrie Izzard at West End on Monday, March 21.

Hide AdMrs Izzard and Palmer both worked at Battle Tackle, in Ninfield Road, Bexhill.
She was also the widow of Jim Izzard, a former photographer who worked for Sussex Newspapers.
A well-respected press photographer Jim had worked with several notable figures, including Princess Diana.
He died almost two years ago while serving a customer at Hailsham Camera Centre.

Hide AdMrs Izzard also used to run The Antiques and Collectors’ Shop in Ninfield Road, Sidley.
Following her death, her family paid tribute to her.
A family spokesman said: “Carrie was a much-loved daughter, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed.
“Her fun-loving ways and zest for life will live on in our memories.
“Her passing in such tragic circumstances will leave a big hole in the lives of her family and those who knew her.

Hide AdPalmer was remanded in custody to await trial at Lewes Crown Court on Monday, September 5.
