Mayor's Laurel and Hardy charity event at Southern Pier Pavilion

Mayor Sean McDonald’s evening was used to raise money for the Mayor’s charities, St Barnabas, Worthing Samaritans and Coastal West Sussex Mind.
Nearly 100 people attended to see three films, songs led by brilliant local guitarist Peter Ridge, games and a talk by the legendary comedian Jeffrey Holland.

Hide AdThe event was hosted by the southern Pier Pavilion, where the first moving pictures were shown in West Sussex in 1896.
The evening also served as a launch pad for the local branch of the Laurel and Hardy society.
Cllr Louise Murphy, who attend the evening, said: “It was a fantastic introduction to Laurel and Hardy. I will be watching many more films when I have time.”
There was a Laurel and Hardy based raffle with many donated prizes.
Around £1,000 was for the Mayor’s charities.

Hide AdAmong those attending the event were the Town Crier, Olga Babijtchouk, a visiting American girl from New York, and some visiting Sons of the Desert, the international Laurel and Hardy appreciation society.
