The woman, thought to be aged between 25 and early 30s, was cycling at the junction between Ham Road and Brougham Road at about 1.50pm when the bike and lorry collided, completely destroying the cycle.
Customers in the Ham pub, opposite where the incident happened, said they did not see the accident but heard a "big bang".

The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and was said to be suffering from "serious leg injuries".
Worthing police sergeant Mel Doyle said it was likely that the lorry driver did not see the cyclist.
She said: "The woman suffered from serious injuries but they are not life threatening."
