It's a Brislington breeze for City ladies

They remain clear at the top of the south west one division with a week off to come. Jess Lewry, an ex-Southampton player, scored Chichester’s only goal at Sholing, and celebrated with gusto. However a late second-half strike by Krystal White salvaged a point for the Reds and they celebrated at the final whistle as if it were a win. On Sunday Chichester entertained a promising Brislington side at Oaklands and the start was perfect with Kally Ambler tapping in at the far post after six minutes, set up but the excellent Cherelle Khassal. Her pace caused the visiting defence all sorts of problems. A couple of minutes later Khassal had opened her account. It was all her own work, surging into the box and forcing an error from a defender, then sliding the ball under keeper Tallulah Wheeler to double the Chichester lead. Near the half-hour mark, Chi added to their tally. Again Khassal was at the heart of it, bursting through, passing Wheeler and slotting into the empty net. Chichester were in total control and the second half moved on in the same vein. Jade Widdows came off the bench to replace the tiring Ambler and sent a quick effort narrowly wide. Kim Maggs scored with a wonderful effort to give Brislington a sniff, ruining Sally-Anne Thompson’s hopes of another clean sheet. But Chichester struck four more before the end. First Lewry produced a wonderful effort from outside the area that flew over Wheeler and in, and then Khassal completed her hat-trick as she surged through and chipped the keeper with ease. Khassal rounded off a perfect performance with her fourth a few minutes later, running through a static defence and firing low into the net. Keavy Price and Shannon Albuery came off the bench and Lewry was allowed to sneak in to head home the seventh. The under-16s won 10-0 away to Withdean Youth, a great result in their first game of the season. Chi scorers were Grace Greenshields, Alex Collighan (2), LouLou Robson (2), Holly Heffron (2) and Paige Bircham (3). City’s under-14s lost 15-1 at home to Eastbourne, Elishia Hounsome their scorer.
