Dare-devil equestrian exhibition at Midhurst

Over the weekend (May 15 and 16), the Spring Exhibition will unveil her studies around polo, show-jumping and eventing – calling upon the same adrenalin-fuelled approach that she has adopted in her marine life photography.

While Kos’s work will be on display at her studio at The Picture Box in Midhurst the two-day exhibition can also be viewed online at www.kosevans.com/virtualWith the approach of the 2021 polo season, Midhurst – the British home of the sport – provides a fitting backdrop to what promises to be a dynamic exhibition.

Lying flat on the ground, in the centre of a polo pitch, as thundering hooves approached is just one example of the challenges that Kos set herself to ensure that her upcoming exhibition will surprise and enthrall.

“This is such an invigorating time for me to launch the latest chapter in my work, one which I have loved producing as I have turned to the theme of horses,” says Kos, who has always had a love of horses, and until now has separated them from her work.

“I have experienced the bond between humans and these intelligent, majestic animals which has deepened throughout this project and I so look forward to sharing that emotion with exhibition visitors. I have always thrived on a challenge and navigating tricky situations – the past year has presented plenty of those! To be emerging from lockdown and mounting an exhibition of my equestrian photography alongside my marine work fills me with excitement and hope for what lies ahead.”

Kos’s talent led her to join Simon Le Bon as he tackled the Whitbread Round the World race, famously capturing her portrait of the musician, feet above his yacht at the top of its 100 foot mast. Ron Dennis was also quick to spot Kos’s unique quality, commissioning her to work alongside his Formula One team.

With her feet firmly on the ground back in her studio, Kos will be there in person to display, and discuss what has inspired, her recent work.

Grouped according to subject and hung in aptly named rooms, equine work, will dominate The Stable Room and The Cowdray Room will display her evocative images of polo ponies and bravery of the game, including the structure of stallions, showjumpers and eventers in action.

The Tack Room will have her signature pieces of marine work, whilst her pop art will capture the imagination of visitors in the Ocean Room.
