Local artists, amateurs and craftspeople are invited to submit up to three pieces of artwork in any medium on the theme of water to celebrate its importance in the landscape and history of Havant.

Springs, streams and aquifers all led to the initial settlements and later industries in the area. In recognition of this, The Spring are asking local artists to celebrate the importance of water in their annual open exhibition.

Sophie Fullerlove, CEO of The Spring, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to not only celebrate the diverse local talent we have in the area but also the significant part water has played in our local heritage. We look forward to seeing the entries and exhibiting these for all to enjoy in the summer when we hope we will once again be open and welcoming back our community.

“A panel of experts will select the chosen pieces of artwork that will go on display in the main gallery and café area at The Spring from Monday, July 19 to Friday, October 1. To spark conversation and opinion, members of the public will also be invited to vote for their favourite piece with a £100 prize going to the artist with the most votes.

Artists working in any medium can enter up to three works of art for consideration by the expert panel. Entry costs £15 (for up to three pieces) and must be submitted by Friday, May 28 2021. To enter please complete the Open Exhibition 2021 entry form at www.thespring.co.uk/exhibitions.”
