ATS / WRAC Association

REPORT of the meeting held on Thursday, March 6.

Present were 25 members. The meeting began with one minute's silence in memory of ex-ATS member Betty Thurstan who passed away on February 24.

A thank-you card had been received from Betty's daughter, Wendy, to thank those who were able to attend the funeral (seven of us) on Monday, March 3. A donation to St Michael's Hospice was made from all of us.

Members were reminded of the gathering on April 4 in London for the 70th Anniversary of the ATS being formed in September 1938. Several members hoped to be able to attend this.

Our chairman, Des, invited members to go for a Cream Tea on the Community Bus outing and a dozen were keen to go. This will be on April 7 at the Wheatsheaf.

The quiz was won by two tables of members, who all enjoyed a small edible prize!

The raffle and sales table brought in very welcome funds for the branch.

Kathy asked if members could let her have any double knitting wool, as she is knitting blankets for the Ugandan children.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, April 3 at 2pm at the Red Cross Centre, opposite Aldi Store, London Road. All ex-service ladies are welcome.

There will be an Easter Tea and the competition will be a decorated egg.
