This comes just a year after the store, which used to be a Steamer Trading, was saved by the company in January 2019.

Last year, Steamer Trading was bought out of administration by its rival retailer ProCook in a deal which included the acquisition of 27 Steamer Trading stores across the country.

Eastbourne’s store was among them, but now it has announced it will shut.

Founder Daniel O’Neill said, “We are very sad to announce that we will soon be closing our Eastbourne and Thame shops.

“For the past few months we’ve been trialing a ProCook High Street model in several stores and unfortunately we have not been able to push trade high enough to make our model work in these two locations.

“We have not taken this decision lightly and want to thank all our customers for their support. Both shops are now in sale until their closure which will be within the next few weeks.

“Our nine Eastbourne employees have been offered the option of moving to other positions within the local area, participating in our trainee management scheme, or redundancy.”
