Group for small businesses starts at Horsham restaurant

Business Success Club was founded by professional public speaking consultant Helen Haynes and Dee Child of Splendid Occasions, which creates tailor made events.

The club aims to enable business owners to learn from each other by sharing experiences.

Around 20 business owners from across the Horsham district came to the launch at Bill’s on Wednesday (May 14). The companies ranged from small catering enterprises and cake makers to therapists, shop owners and consultants.

The club’s monthly meetings will each have a theme. This month’s was ‘The value of public relations to your business’. The group heard from new Horsham PR firm, Purely Public Relations on how to make the most of PR and the benefits of having it as part of a wider marketing strategy.

Dee, from Horsham, said: “We wanted to create a network of support and encouragement. Running a small business can be very lonely at times and knowing that there are others in the same position really helps with motivation and inspires you to keep going.”

Helen, from Pulborough, added: “We are delighted with the response to this exciting new initiative and have no doubt that it will grow in the future. We can all learn so much from each other and there is no better time to be a small business owner.”

Next month’s meeting on Wednesday June 18, 10am at Bill’s. The special guest speaker is Kerry Kyriacou, a Sussex business consultant who is talking about ‘Not selling yourself short’.
