The competition by The Great Sussex Way, the body responsible for tourism in the Chichester district, aims to promote all our area has to offer when it comes to creating an ideal weekend.

Every winner will receive a luxurious hamper filled with a selection of goodies from Petworth’s The Hungry Guest worth over £75, and each category has a bespoke prize.

The competition, called ‘A Winning Weekend’, has three categories.

The Creative Connectivity category asks people to explore adventurous ways to get from A to B, and the winner will be treated to an hour-long scenic aeroplane ride for two, with a glass of bubbly, courtesy of V2 Radio.

Going Green will win you a weeknight stay for two at Ashling Park Estate, with a tour of the winery and a free afternoon eBike hire thanks to Southern eBike Rentals.

Lastly, the Businesses Collaboration category looks to encourage businesses to work together, and the winner gets a 30 second advertisement lasting four weeks on V2 Radio.

Finally, all three winning weekends will be publicised in the Observer series with a double-page special.

Danielle Dunfield, CEO of The Great Sussex Way, said: “With home schooling and working from home, like most people I have been dreaming of getting away for a bit of a break. Our area has something for everyone, and we want to hear what you’d do to make a weekend in the Chichester district a magical one.”

Alex Berry, managing director of V2 Radio, said: “We’re extremely privileged to have a wealth of stunning countryside and heritage landmarks across Sussex. Now more than ever it’s important to support our leisure and tourism businesses as the country gets back on its feet. Highlighting and supporting these businesses is engrained into V2 Radio and we passionately encourage others to do the same.”

Gary Shipton, Editor in Chief of the Observer, added: “The Observer is delighted to be supporting A Winning Weekend. This area has so much to offer – wonderful countryside and an amazing coast, complete with our magnificent cathedral city of Chichester and a glorious selection of ancient towns and villages including Petworth and Midhurst. I commend The Great Sussex Way for all it is doing to promote the region to visitors.”

The competition, launched today, (April 1) will run for the whole month, closing at midnight on April 30. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges including Anke Monestel from Visit England, Samantha Richardson from the National Coastal Tourism Academy, and Dr Jorge Gutic from the University of Chichester’s Business School.
