Bognor Regis students win Artsmark award

ARTS education in The Regis School in Bognor Regis has received national recognition.

The school is among those which have been awarded the latest Artsmark by the Arts Council England to show its commitment to, and excellence in, the subject.

David Jones, the school’s principal, said receiving the award was a matter of pride for the school. “Artsmark is more than simply a mark of distinction to us.

“Taking part in the scheme has enabled us to develop our arts provision and see the students who take part become more confident, engaged and excited about learning,” he said.

Typical of this vibrant arts education work is a curator project with Chichester’s Pallant House.

“Arts Council England believes the earlier children are creatively inspired, the more likely they are to have a lifelong engagement with art – something that can transform lives and give young people a voice,” said its chief executive, Alan Davey.
