The college achieved its strongest ever results at grades A*, A*-A and A*-C (A Level), and Distinction*-Distinction (BTEC).

Seaford’s Headmaster, John Green, said: “We are very proud of all of our students and delighted with this year’s outstanding results, indicating our ever- strengthening academic core at Seaford. Our students should be very proud.

"Indeed, they have responded brilliantly in very difficult, unprecedented and immensely challenging circumstances.

"This year, more than any other, has demonstrated that success at school is not all about achieving top grades; it’s about developing core values, a sense of real community and care for others and empowering each and every student to maximise their individual potential.

“The vast majority of our students have secured places at top universities, their first-choice universities, including those in the Russell Group and Oxbridge.

“In this year’s unique set of circumstances, the hard work, expertise and professionalism of our teachers ensured that every individual student’s achievements were reflected in the estimates submitted – via our incredibly successful and unique Challenge Grade System.

"The gathering and analysis of evidence to support the estimates was very demanding but crucial to this rigorous process. Our Centre Assessed Grades were carefully considered, supported by clear evidence, and prioritised each individual student’s circumstances.

"It is pleasing that in many cases, CAG grades have been upheld but, as is happening up and down the country, there are some students where the grade received is not in line with the grades that the school submitted, and the next step will be to follow the process set out for reviewing these grades for each of our candidates, where it is appropriate to do so.

“As a whole, the College has achieved immensely strong results across A Level and BTEC/CTEC in such extraordinary circumstances but this, of course, means little to those individuals who feel let down by the unprecedented process implemented by the Government and examination boards this year.

"At this time, the school prioritises the welfare and resilience of all of our students and we continue to support them. Like many schools, we will be following the latest appeal process to apply for mock grades and will continue to monitor the situation carefully as it develops.

"We will be giving those students who have not been certificated as they were estimated our full support. As we pursue the appeals process, we will do all that we can to ensure that their results reflect their potential and we’ll be offering all the support and guidance they need to help them realise their goals and ambitions. As a part of our post-examination service to students and parents, senior members of staff and our Heads of Department are on hand to support and advise.

“I’d like to wish everyone success in their future studies, employment and gap year adventures. We look forward to welcoming you back at Seaford in the near future to celebrate the class of 2020 and to give you a Seaford send-off.”
