A site in Sussex has been set up for the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Tuesday, 8th December 2020, 2:16 pm

Sussex House, in Abbey Road, Brighton, is one of a number of locations where people will be able to get the jab.

More than 50 hospital trusts across the country have been marked out as locations for early acceptance of the vaccine, Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust being one of them, due to the facilities needed to keep the vaccine at super-cold temperatures of -70 degrees Celsius.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was approved last Wednesday (December 2).

An English grandmother became the first person in the world to receive the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine outside of a clinical trial today (Tuesday, December 8).

Margaret Keenan, 90, was given the vaccine in Coventry at 6.31am as the NHS mass vaccination programme began in the UK.

The first phase will focus on older people, health staff and care home workers.
