Wave Leisure is opening up private online classes to key workers
Key workers will be able to access Wave Leisure's online classes for free.
The classes will be accessible via a private Facebook group 'Live Life with Wave', a virtual community aiming to inspire active lifestyles across Sussex, it will be available for all key workers as identified by the Government.
Key workers include NHS staff such as nurse, doctors, paramedics, as well as social workers, midwives, teachers, death management, those that work in essential shops such as supermarkets, and police.
Members of Wave Leisure Trust and now any identified ‘key workers’ can share tips, motivational support and help each other keep active. Fitness experts from Wave will publish workouts that can take place at home or outdoors.
Duncan Kerr, chief executive at Wave Leisure, said: “We are delighted to offer our fitness classes to key workers across the area. At times like this, communities must come together to support one another and so I hope our range of live workouts, fitness challenges and tips and tricks will support people during this time.”
There will be a mixture of live and pre-recorded fitness classes uploaded everyday Monday – Friday aimed at all abilities to help keep all ages active. There will be cardio activities, strength and balance exercises as well as gentle stretching for beginners.
Some of the classes include on Mondays a live strength workout at 3pm, on Tuesdays there is exercise technique at 10am and fun fitness challenge at 3pm. A live cardio workout takes place at 3pm on a Wednesday, Thursday at 10am there is short gentle exercise clips and on Friday at 10am there are junior activity sheets and a live core/strech workout at 3pm.
Cat James, one of Wave’s members, said: “The Wave Facebook group is amazing. It keeps me in touch with the instructors and it really helps to still see the familiar faces I’m missing. The online and live workouts are brilliant, and the daily messages and top tips are really motivational. Thank you Wave for keeping me and my family moving.”
Upon requesting to join the group, individuals will be asked to answer a question indicating the work that they do, and then access will be approved.
