Pictures of popular parade in Bognor Regis from the year it was revived

When Bognor Regis Carnival was revived in 2009 after four years without one, at least 25 organisations expressed an interest in taking part in the parade. Bognor Regis Town Council had fully expected it to take a while for the carnival to build up again, after its absence, so it was delighted with the response. On the day, thousands of spectators came from far and wide to see the procession, headed by the carnival queen and her two princesses. The seafront between the Regis Centre and West Park was packed up to three deep in places.

Children and adults of The Village Pre-School in Pagham scooped the prize for the best push-and-pull entry, with their Hawaiian-themed costumes and palm trees. They then returned triumphant the following year to claim the 2010 prize for best children’s walking group with their eye-catching Captain Hook pirate ship, one of the biggest entries that year.
