“That’s very sad,” she said.

“The late night shopping has been put on hold because of lockdown.

“The plans we had for a couple of bands, we’ve had to cancel it. The launch for Made in Midhurst has been delayed.

“All of that was going to happen on November 19 but, in lockdown, we can’t do that.

“The lights will come on, on the 19th, but that was supposed to coincide with the late night shopping.

“It’s all really sad.”

As well as a potential competition for residents to enter, the town council will again judge the windows of shops in the town.

“That is the only thing that is a given,” Ms Lintott said.
