Colin Pinney will be giving an illustrated talk on Literary and Historical London with new facts about our famous city and no doubt awakening some old memories, too. Colin is a very experienced speaker with a successful acting background and many of our members will remember the excellent talk he gave us on Yeats’ relationship with Maud Gonne last year. CONCERT: Bognor Regis Music Club, 2 Sudley Road at 7pm: An Evening with Paul Dorrell and Friends. Martin Cannings (violin), Lynn Whitley (viola) and Chris Cooper (cello) will perform Mozart’s Quartet K285 in D major, Haydn’s Quartet No.2 in G major, and Boccherini’s celebrated minuet , with Paul Dorrell playing flute. The Notos wind quintet, comprising Clare Worth (oboe), Brain Shilham (clarinet), John Peskett (horn), Anna Mayer (bassoon) and Paul Dorrell (flute), will play Arrieu’s Wind Quintet and Malcolm Arnold’s Sea Shanties. Sopranos Tina Gelnere and Sarah Matousek, accompanied by Chris Coote will perform songs and arias by Handel, Mozart, Saint Saens, Faure and Duparc. Through photographs, artefacts and memories, this exhibition will tell the story of how the show started and the early days, up to the present time when it has become one of the most important dates on the Emsworth calendar. Emsworth Museum is open on Saturdays and Bank Holiday Monday (29th May) 10.30am - 4.30pm and on Sundays 2.30pm - 4.30pm. Admission is free. A stairlift is available.
