RESIDENTS at Pendean House Nursing Home, in West Lavington, had their watering cans at the ready as they prepared for their Community Crops ‘sow and grow’ day on Monday (April 18).
Community Crops is a Bupa Care Homes initiative promoting the health benefits of gardening and growing your own fruit and vegetables.
The project is supported by young people involved with The Prince’s Trust.
Residents have also been inviting schools and community groups to lend a hand with planting and start their own vegetable plots.
Home manager, Jackie Travers said: “This is a great way for our residents to appreciate the fresh air, stay active and get a real sense of achievement by tending to the crops and watching them grow.”
