16-year-old Hassocks boy ‘pronounced dead at the scene’ after being hit by train in Wivelsfield
A 16-year-old boy from Hassocks has died after being hit by a train at Wivelsfield railway station yesterday (July 31).
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called to Wivelsfield station shortly after 7.30pm on Thursday, 31 July, following a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“Our officers attended the scene with colleagues from South East Coast Ambulance Service, but a 16-year-old boy from the Hassocks area was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“The boy’s family has been informed, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”
The train involved was the 7.28 Brighton to London Victoria service.
