FASHIONISTAS and divas channelled Coco Chanel at Pendean House.

The whole community got involved in a fashion show to marvel at vintage and beautiful fashion, while raising money for a great cause.

A unique show of pre-loved clothes was held at Pendean and a marquee in the grounds was transformed with an L-shaped catwalk, plants, trees, lights, music and rows of seats, and the front row given VIP treatment with a glass of Prosecco and goodie bags filled with beauty products.

The fashion show was the inspiration of Trina Duncan, and hosted by Midhurst Parish Church in association with Macmillan and the British Heart Foundation.

The models, who included some of the charity volunteers as well as a Macmillan nurse, strutted their stuff on the catwalk to loud applause from the audience.

Trina said: “The clothes all represented amazing value, some of the items having never been worn and others with designer labels.

“In addition to the clothes being modelled, both charities had displays of additional clothes, belts, bags shoes and hats which were on sale both before and after the big event.

“The finale of the show was a beautiful young bride, Flora South, accompanied by her ‘groom’, Joe South.

“Flora generously threw her bouquet into the audience on her final exit.

“The hair and make-up was brilliantly done by the staff and students of Chichester District College.”

After the show, the audience rushed to snap up the bargains they had identified and were treated to tea and cakes while they browsed for bargains.

Trina added: “The event was expertly compered by Susan Ford, who encouraged the audience to embrace a ‘win win’ philosophy by both spending their money in aid of two incredibly important charities and by donating clothes they no longer wear, which could both raise money and provide a treat for someone else.

“She also reminded the audience of Coco Chanel’s mantra, ‘The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten’.”

Wine and canapés were given to all the generous guests on the evening.
