Aldi coming to Midhurst?

BUDGET supermarket Aldi is considering building a new store in Midhurst.

A spokesman for Aldi told the Observer: “Aldi is considering numerous locations across the south east.

“Chichester and Midhurst are two such locations, and we are actively seeking a site in the hope of bringing an Aldi store to the area and creating jobs for the surrounding communities.

“We look forward to bringing retail choice to Chichester and Midhurst and providing shoppers with high-quality products at everyday low prices.”

The 31 other locations currently being considered include Chichester, Bognor, Worthing, Littlehampton and Horsham, though no further details
on their locations have yet been given.

A spokesman for the South Downs National Park Authority said: “Our planning department has not yet received any application from Aldi.

“But if the company was looking at a site which was already a retail unit, it would not need to submit a planning application.”
