Aldingbourne runner hopes to top £15,000

Kenny Smith (37), of St Johns Close, will be lining up again on April 13 to support the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

His sister, Kathleen Smith (38) is totally disabled with the condition. He said: "When people say I am mad to run the London Marathon year after year, I tell them I can use my legs and feet but my sister can't.

"So, I want to put them to good use and raise money for a good cause."

Kathleen has been confined to her bed or a chair with the progressive condition for the past three years. She is also unable to speak and is looked after at a special home in Aldwick.

"She was diagnosed with MS at the age of 21 and is really suffering with it," added Kenny.

Kenny, the joiner on the Goodwood Estate, hopes to create a personal best in this year's marathon by finishing in less than five hours. His fastest time so far for the 26.2 mile course is 5hrs 27mins.

His local pub, the Prince of Wales at Woodgate, is holding a charity raffle on marathon night to add to the 9,684 he has raised so far.

His sponsorship forms are available at the pub, next to the level crossing, and at the Goodwood Estate's Boxgrove shop.
