Annual Battle of the flowers

Battle Floral and Horticultural Society held their Spring Show in Battle’s Memorial Hall last Saturday (29th March).

Members had worked hard in advance to put plenty on display.

Floral exhibits were augmented by domestic, photographic and children’s categories.

The children’s entries came mainly from local Rainbows, Brownies & Cubs groups and made a very impressive contribution to the show.

As always there was a tombola and a plant stall; and refreshments were available throughout the day.

At the end of an enjoyable show the following trophies were awarded:

Stan Edworthy Trophy - Linda Jones

Spring Challenge Cup - Diana Watson

Amy Sargent Cup - Wendy McCarthy

Ann Mills Glover Trophy - Chris Hone

Rotherview Spring Cup - Coco Isaac

Webb Spring Cup - Elissa Richardson

There was also an award for the most popular item of art work with an ‘Inspired by the Garden Shed’ theme. This went to Alan Gavin.
