PETWORTH is preparing for another right royal occasion in the town.
Doing what the town does best, it is now getting ready to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Following on from the Royal wedding in April 2011 and the Queen’s diamond jubilee in 2012 a committee headed by Lord Egremont is making arrangements for another of Petworth’s great street parties.
It will be held in the Market Square on the same day as the big Street Party in the Mall which is on Sunday July 12.
Plans are still at an early stage but organisers hope a local group will provide street entertainment.
Petworth Town Band also have the date in their diary.
One of the committee members Janet Duncton said: “When we have a set idea of what we are hoping to provide we will let the people of Petworth know more details.
“If it follows the normal street party pattern it will be a great fun day for all with people bringing their own picnics and we will provide soft drinks including tea and coffee.”
