Arson school being demolished

DEMOLITION workers have moved on to the former Charters Ancaster School site.

The buildings of the former private school were declared unsafe following an arson attack in November which created one of the biggest blazes in local memory.

The contract to demolish the century old complex was signed just the day before the blaze. The site has been acquired for construction of the new Bexhill College, which went before planners yesterday.

Paul Ashdown, college principal, said: "Demolition should be done before Christmas. The buildings are dangerous and an eyesore for neighbours."
