Award winnerWriters' group prize for best new short story

Midhurst Writers' Group has announced the winner of the Ray Bell Memorial Award for 2016.

Each year, members of the group compete for the award, which is presented to the author of the best new short story.

The winner for this year was Barbara Mosse, who was presented with a silver salver and a book token for £20 by adjudicator Gareth Edmunds, library manager for the Chichester area. Runner-up was Alec Fry.

Barbara is one of the latest recruits to the group, which meets each Monday at 7.30pm in the Butser Room at the South Downs National Park HQ in Capron House (North), Midhurst.
