Battle Abbey School GCSE results slightly up on last year

The independent school celebrated as 91 percent of its GCSE students hit the magic mark, up slightly on last year’s figure of 90 percent.

Meanwhile 96 percent of students gained five A*-C grades, a rise on last year’s 92 percent.

There was also a clutch of individual success stories, including Ciaran Acuna scooping an impressive three A*s, six As and a B, and fellow student Hannah Follett, who earned a well-deserved three A*s and six A grades.

Battle Abbey headmaster David Clark praised the work of the students.

He told the Observer: “Battle Abbey School has yet again registered excellent GCSE results that leave our pupils well placed to push on and fulfil their potential at A Level.

“14 of our 70 candidates achieved A* - B grades across the board.

“96 percent achieved five A* - C grades which highlights our continued ability to bring the best out of our GCSE candidates.

“A fantastic 91 percent of all grades at A* - C.

“Particular mention should go to Ciaran Acuna who achieved three A*s, six As and a B, Hannah Follett who achieved three A*s and six As, Therese Lewis who got two A*s and seven As, Lauren Ensign two A*s seven As and a B, and Alexandra Kingwell who got four A*s, five As and a B.”

Mr Clark paid tribute to everyone who worked so hard to achieve the impressive results.

Mr Clark said: “Great credit goes of course to our teachers, pupils and parents for their extraordinary commitment to these achievements.

“This is a friendly and industrious year group who can feel very proud of what they have achieved, and we are suitably excited about the potential they represent as part of our sixth form.”
