Bepton villagers have unveiled an information panel on Bepton Down to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

“The panel is to highlight the Down which is a SSSI and an Access Area managed by the Cowdray Estate which has rare and beautiful orchids,” said Bepton Parish Council chairman Howard Ewing.

The brainchild of The Bepton Down Conservation Group chairman Simon Verrall, he designed and commissioned the panel and the parish council gained a Chichester District Council grant to commemorate the royal birthday.

The panel which stands at the T-junction at Bugshill Lane and Bell Lane was unveiled by the deputy lieutenant of West Sussex, Neil Hart, who is a Bepton villager.
