Bexhill hit by storm

Pictures from regular Observer photographic contributors and members of the public have been pouring in as Bexhill continues to be battered by the biggest storm of the winter.

Police temporarily closed off Devonshire Road to traffic for fear of flying debris from broken masonry and smashed windows.

Boats near the Bexhill Sea Angling Club, on De La Warr Parade, were hoisted on to the promenade to protect them from the raging sea.

Trees have been felled across Bexhill and Rother.

Bexhill Police have said no injuries have been reported so far as a result of damage caused by the storm.

Worse weather conditions are expected this evening.
