It formally appreciates and thanks her for her outstanding and devoted service to the RAFA area. This has made her one of the most respected members of the association nationally.

Mrs Lorimer joined RAFA’s Bognor branch on Waterloo Square with her late husband, Jim, in 1978.

Their endless hard work saw them make a major contribution to the branch and turn it into one of the most successful in the country.

Mrs Lorimer has continued to work tirelessly after Jim’s death.

Branch marketing co-ordinator David Hewings said: “Irene can be found at the branch almost every day, working on or supporting the branch’s or club’s activities.

“She is also very much involved with the town’s Air Training Corps’ squadron, supporting its aim of developing good citizens.”

An important part of Mrs Lorimer’s work is also to represent the branch at all regional and national conferences.
