Bookmakers present cheque to children's ward

BEXHILL Ladbrokes have donated £1,000 to the Kipling Ward paediatric unit at the Conquest hospital.

Manager of the Western Road bookmakers, Jon Dodd, said the money had been raised with a range of different fun ideas over the past year, and it was his staff who made the decision to raise funds for to help the young patients on Kipling Ward.

Jon said: " The staff decided to contribute all fundraising efforts towards helping patients staying in the Kipling Ward.

"We had a variety of events including a regular Irish Lotto 'Bonus Ball' sweepstake and a 'Guess the total of sweets in a jar game.

"We managed to raise a thousand pounds, which the Kipling Ward will put towards a new cardiac monitor for their newly refurbished room for children with cancer."

Accepting the cheque was Kipling Ward manager Caroline Stephenson who said:

"We are very grateful for the kind donation and it will make a big difference to our young patients."
