Boxgrove auction to boost cancer support

A CHARITY which offers support and information to anyone concerned about cancer is holding a fundraiser tomorrow.

Cancerwise, which is based in Chichester, supports people living between Worthing and Portsmouth and up to Midhurst and Petworth.

It offers a free drop-in service in a non-clinical environment to help people cope with their diagnosis and treatment.

The charity raised more than £1,500 in January, and tomorrow is holding an auction and social event at 7.30pm in Boxgrove Village Hall.

Companies and organisations have donated a wide range of items, including overseas holiday accommodation, admission tickets for local venues, theatre and cinema tickets.

Chairman Chris Wood said “We last held a charity auction of this kind in 2010 and it raised more than £4,000. We are very much hoping we can beat that total as there is such an attractive list of prizes local organisations have provided. We are very grateful to them for their generosity.”

Tickets are £15 each, and include a drink and finger buffet.
